When is the baby coming game?

Well, I am at 35 weeks and a couple days. I thought it would be fun to play a game out of when the baby will come. I got this idea from a friend who did this when she had a baby. Four prizes will be awarded for the person who gets closest to the right date, the right weight, the length of labor and what time I went into labor.

Here is some information to help you make the best guess:

Abby was born at 36 weeks 1 day, 7 lbs. 3 oz, I went into labor at 3 a.m., and labor lasted 8 hours. This baby is due August 14th.

To enter the contest, just leave a comment, or send me a message on Facebook, or email me. Anyone who wants may apply. The prizes will be awarded to the person who comes closest to the actual stats, but the prize will be way better if you get the stats spot on! One guess per person. I will announce the winner after the baby is born! Good luck!

This is the last ultrasound we had. I was about 28 weeks pregnant here. My Dr's office had just hired an ultrasound technician, so we were able to do it sooner than if the Dr had done it. I was told that she was measuring about a week big, but that it was ok. She said by the measurements, the baby was about 3 lbs, and that she was a girl!

Alright, so I haven't posted in FOREVER on this blog! I know, I've been a major slacker! Things have just been a little crazy around here. I've been trying to make and sell soldered necklaces on Etsy. It's been a big process, and I go back and forth on it. I get discouraged a lot about it, but I keep telling myself I need more exposure and everything. I need to be patient about it and eventually it will work. I just am not the most patient person when it comes to things like this! I'm also just very pregnant and trying to stay out of the heat and everything. This pregnancy has been different from the last, and I thought I was having a boy for awhile. But no, another girl! Which I'm totally fine with! It means less money to spend on stuff since we already have the girl stuff. I still need to get a double stroller, though. Trying to figure out which ones are good and can hold a lot of weight. The one I was looking at only holds 40 pounds total, so it won't work.

Josh is working full time. He works 2-3 days a week, 16 hour long shifts. He likes his job, but it's hard at times with the long hours. He is planning on going back to school in the fall to SUU and getting his Bachelor's in Criminal Justice.

Abby is growing up so fast! She is talking more and more every day. She loves Blues Clues and just about anything that has singing in it (which Josh pretty much hates). She loves nursery! The first time I left her in there she tried to shut the door on my face. It was a little heartbreaking for me, but I'm glad she likes it so much. I get told every Sunday how good she is in there. She loves to share with Mama and Dada. If she has something to eat, she wants us to have one as well. She used to be terrified of my sister's little dog, but then one day she wanted to get in the pen with her and play. Now she loves her and wants her to chase after her and lick her.

I know, these are really late! Abby is actually almost 18 months now, but I still wanted to share some of the pics from her birthday.

This is the first cake I ever decorated.

She wasn't sure what to do at first.

She mainly ate the frosting. We cut into the cake so she would at least eat some of it.

The Saturday after her birthday, we had another small party for her. We had cupcakes and then went to the water park.

So, I realize that I haven't been a very good blogger lately! Life has been a little crazy for quite awhile. Since I posted last, Abby has turned 1 (I'll post pics later), I am now a stay-at-home mom, Josh has graduated with his Associates from Dixie and is planning on going to SUU either in the summer or the fall. Oh, and I'm pregnant! I am officially out of the first trimester! I am 13 weeks now. This pregnancy has been a little different. I felt that the morning sickness was a lot worse, but last time I was working and kept telling myself I didn't have time to be sick. So, maybe it was similar and I just didn't notice? Who knows. I'm still really tired, though. Don't know if that will ever go away! I got an ultrasound at 10 weeks (will post those later as well), and every thing is going well!

Just thought I'd make a post since I haven't in awhile. Our lives have been a little crazy lately. I am done with teaching, and will not be returning next year. I'm going to try to be a stay-at-home mom. I'm thinking of a bunch of different crafts that I can make and try to sell to make some extra money. Josh is going to school right now. He is one class away from getting his associates! Abby is growing up so fast! She is crawling everywhere and getting into everything. She is trying to walk, and has about 5 teeth now, two on the bottom and three on top. I will update more on her later. I don't have any pictures right now, but as soon as I find the camera cord, I will post some.

I know this is a month late, but at least I am posting :) So basically on August 24th my water broke at 3 a.m. and we went to Labor and Delivery. I was dilated to a 4 1/2 so they admitted me. They said I wouldn't deliver until 5 or 6 that night. Then they checked me at 8 a.m. and I was at an 8, but they still said it would be 1 or 2 before I delivered. They checked me again at 10 and I was at a 10, but the baby wasn't down far enough so we did rest and descend. About an hour later the baby's head was there and we were ready. Except for the fact that Josh had run over to the college to talk to his professor to get the syllabus from him since it was the first day of school, and the dr wasn't there either. So they said we could wait a little while, but then came back a few minutes later saying we couldn't wait any more. The baby seemed to be going into distress. The nurse rubbed her head a little and it seemed to make her do better. Right then our Dr and Josh got there. It took about 3 or 4 contractions, and she was out! We are so happy to have her here and can't imagine life without her.

Sorry, but there is no picture this week.

Just an update: I went to the Dr. on Thursday afternoon, and had a really bad nst test. The baby wouldn't respond. She didn't move a whole lot, and there were no "mountains and valleys" as they like to call them on the heartbeat printout. The nurse gave me juice to see if that would help, and she wouldn't move at all after the juice. I did have a Braxton Hicks contraction which left a big nothing on the monitor until it was over. So, the Dr (who I have to add was not my regular Dr, he was out of town) decided that we needed to do an ultrasound. Well, the ultrasound turned out fine. We saw her breathe and move, and he checked that I had enough amniotic fluid, which I have plenty of. This whole time I'm basically freaking out thinking he's going to send me to labor and delivery and give me a c-section. Yes, I tend to go straight to the worst possible outcome. But all is well. He also checked me, and I am already dilated to a 3 and thinned. He didn't say how thinned, so I don't know exactly where I'm at with that. I asked if I could be at a 3 for a long time and he said it was possible, but that, because I have high blood pressure, my Dr would induce me at least 1 or 2 weeks early. The way his face looked, though, made me wonder if he thought I would go sooner than that.

The baby's head is in the downward position, and I noticed on Friday that she had dropped. I can breathe a little bit better. I've been having a lot of cramping, but nothing painful. The Dr also said that I needed to wait until Monday, and then I could contract as much as I wanted because my regular Dr would be back in town because he prefers to deliver his own patients.

So basically, I'm just waiting to see what is going on. I am trying to work on lesson plans and get my classroom ready for a sub. It's a little stressful to not know what's going on, but hopefully I can get everything done in the next few days and be ready to go at any time. My next appointment is on Thursday, so we'll see what happens!

only 5 more weeks! We did another non stress test on Friday, and it was probably the best one yet. My dr is talking about inducing me around Labor Day, so that's just about 3 weeks. There's still a lot to do, and a lot to get.

Only 7 more weeks!! I tend to look a different size depending on what I wear. Some days I look huge, while other days I look small. I actually got told I was tiny for being 8 months pregnant by someone.

So for a little bit of an update, I get to go to 2 different Dr appointments this week. The first Dr appointment is for an ultrasound to make sure the baby is growing and everything is going good. Then I go to my regular Dr to do the weekly non stress test. Some weeks she does better than others, so we'll have to see. Everything has been going pretty good. I haven't started nesting, that I know of, but would love to so my house could get really clean. lol The baby's room is almost completely done. There are just a couple more things to do.

Josh is out of school for a couple of weeks, but I go back to work next week. I'm going to have to go this week to start setting up my classroom again, though. Not really looking forward to it. I am excited for a new year to begin, but I'm also tired a lot still. Hoping things will go good and everything.

My sister was here this past week, and it was really fun to hang out with her and my nephew. That's about it for now.

For updates: This past month work for me ended for the summer. I then had to go to 2 days of meetings. The first day was great, but the 2nd day wasn't as great. It was still good, but I just didn't want to be there. It was a long day! Josh's sister, Jalyn, stayed with us for a couple of days on her way back up to Hayden Lake, ID. It was really fun to see her. Josh is going to summer school. He has a crazy schedule, but has every Friday off from school which is nice. He's still working nights. I'm not sleeping much, and it seems to only be getting worse. But I guess it goes along with the pregnancy. We got the changing table up in the baby's room, but we still need to get the crib up and rearrange some of the furniture.

I had my dr appointment last week, and it didn't go so well. My blood pressure was high, so I get to go back next week and get it checked again. I was told to rest a lot this week. It's been kind of hard to not really do anything. I'm not one that likes to be told to do basically nothing. It makes me antsy and want to do anything. But it has been pretty nice to relax. I was having some issues that were worrying me, and most of them have gone away this week. So hopefully my dr appointment will go better this week. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

So we had our Dr appointment on Thursday, and it didn't go all that great. There was no one in the waiting room, but we still waited for 10 or 15 minutes before they called us in. Then we waited for awhile in the room. Well, we did the ultra sound and the baby would not cooperate! We couldn't really see anything, all the Dr could find was the cord. So, based on that, he said he was going to give us a 60% chance that the baby was a girl, but don't paint the nursery pink yet. So, me, being the person that I am, was not satisfied with that answer. I had a friend go to a place in town called Pre-natal Treasures where they do 2D and 3D ultrasounds, and she found out what she was having before the Dr has given her the ultrasound. So I called them and they got me in on Friday. It was a completely different experience! The baby was very active, moving all over the place! And we found out that we are having a GIRL! It was pretty cool to see her kick and move, and I also saw her open her mouth a few times. It was a little difficult to find out she was a girl at first because she kept moving so much that she was hiding herself. The lady that does the ultrasound gave me a bunch of prints from it, and then a CD that had all the pictures that she took of it. It's pretty cool!

In just a few more days, we will be able to find out what we are having. I'm just hoping he/she doesn't become shy during the Dr's visit. I think Josh is becoming more excited now. He actually remembers that the Dr's appointment is on Thursday! I usually have to remind him a few times before, but I don't think I will need to this time.

There are only about 15 more school days this year! I cannot believe how fast time has flown! My first year teaching is almost over. It's kind of hard to say goodbye to these kids. They are a great bunch of kids, and I have really enjoyed teaching them.

I had my check up on Friday afternoon. This time, they got me right in! I don't think we even waited 5 minutes, unlike last time or them forgetting about me! We got to hear the baby's heartbeat again, and this time it was easier to find. Last month, the dr had to push harder, and it hurt a little. This time, it was like he touched my belly and we heard it. We have 4 more weeks and we get to find out what we are having! I'm pretty excited. The receptionist tried to set me up for 5 weeks and I'm not waiting longer than I have to, so I asked to go in sooner. Apparently she didn't realize how far along I was because she tried to argue that the Dr likes us to be 20 weeks before he does the ultrasound. I nicely explained to her that I would be 20 weeks on May 3rd, and I didn't really want to wait until May 12th to find out. So the earliest I could get in was May 7th because the other days were all morning appointments and I work so I couldn't do those days. Josh insists we are having a boy. In the beginning, I thought I was having a girl, but then I started thinking that maybe I am having a boy. I honestly don't know for sure, though. I haven't had dreams about it like so many of my friends have had. Josh has started referring to the extra bedroom as the baby's room. I haven't gotten that far yet, because it's still technically a storage room. Hopefully when school gets out in about 6 more weeks, I can then turn it into a baby room. I have no idea how I want to decorate it, though. Any ideas? :)

Feeling Impatient & Contemplating Going Private

So I am feeling very impatient lately. I just want to find out what we are having so I can plan accordingly. Josh asked about how we would decorate the baby's room, and I have no idea how to do it until I know what we are having. I have a Dr appointment tomorrow (just a checkup) and then hopefully the next appointment we can find out. The Dr said that we would do the ultrasound at 20 weeks. I'm tempted to see if he would let us come in again in 3 weeks, when I am 19 1/2 weeks, instead of at 20 weeks to find out. We'll see, I guess.

So, I keep thinking that I may need to go private. Honestly, I don't know if there are people that I have no clue who they are who follow our blog, but in a way, that kind of worries me. I wish that there wasn't a need to go private, but the more I think about it, the more I think I just might need to do it. So, if anyone has any suggestions, or would like to help me come to a complete decision, I'm ready for them!

Vegas!!

So last weekend we went with a couple of our friends to Vegas for a night. It was a lot of fun! We got there Saturday and spent most of the day hanging out and checking things out. We stayed at Excalibur. Can I just say we LOVE the Excalibur! We stayed there before, and at that time they upgraded us to a better room. Well, this time, they upgraded us to a suite! It was awesome! It was 2 rooms. The first room had a tv and a sitting area and a table and fridge and stuff. Then you go into the next room and there was the bedroom and a jetted tub and shower, etc. There were actually 2 bathrooms in the suite! I don't think I have ever stayed in such a cool room. Needless to say, we will probably stay at Excalibur again. :)

While we were in Vegas, Josh and I went to see the Tournament of Kings dinner and show. It was my 2nd time seeing it, and Josh's third, and I can honestly say that I don't remember all that was done. I don't know if I just forgot or if they added things to it. It was kind of funny because we were in Ireland, and last time we saw it we were also in Ireland. Josh said he is always in Ireland. The guy that played our king last time was the king for Russia this time.

All in all, we had a great time and we hope our friends did, too! And we hope that they will want to go again sometime. :)

So we went to Pirate Island Pizza with my parents. Josh likes to go there because they have a fun arcade and you can get prizes. He wants to save up and get the Wii they have there. We ordered the Kraken pizza, and that thing is HUGE!!!

How many tests does it take? Well, for me, technically, 4. After being told for years that I would have a really hard time getting pregnant, if I got pregnant at all, I couldn't believe that a test would come up positive. Especially since we didn't have any help from dr's to become pregnant. I took 3 tests at home and then went into the Dr.'s office to take another one where they confirmed it.

We had a little scare a few days after we found out. I thought I was having a miscarriage so I got into the Dr. and he checked me out and told me it looked ok but they were a little concerned so I should take a couple of days off work. It was hard not to go to work those days, but it was also nice to have a break. I did pretty much nothing! I laid around a lot and slept. We went back to the Dr. and he said everything looks good. We are excited to have this baby! It's a complete surprise but a great blessing, too. Now I just have to change plans of making our extra bedroom into my craft room and now make it into a nursery!

I know, I'm not the best blogger. I sometimes go weeks even months without posting anything. And just when I want to post some pictures, I lose the camera cord. It's not that I misplace it. I put it somewhere that I know I will find it again. The thing is, I must put it somewhere really safe because I can never remember where it is! So, as soon as I find the camera cord, I will post some pictures.

SNOW!!!

So it snowed the other day, but didn't really stick. It's been cold since then and has looked like it might snow. Well, today it started at about 4 pm and hasn't really stopped! I got a call tonight saying there will be no school tomorrow. Normally I would feel great about having a day to relax or catch up on things, but I don't feel that way this time. We were supposed to do our 3rd grade Christmas play tomorrow morning for the school and then again at night for their parents. As of now, I don't know what is going to happen with it. The kids have worked really hard and have been really excited about the whole thing. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I meant to take pictures of the snow, but it got dark quick, so I will have to take some tomorrow and post. I do love the snow! Just not usually in huge quantities. I hate driving in snow. Although, someday I may have to deal with all of that more.

It's been awhile

I know, I'm bad. I haven't posted in 2 months. Life got a little hectic, and I kept meaning to post, but never really got around to it. Plus, there's not a lot to really say. Josh is almost done with school for the semester. He is doing pretty well in his classes. He also works part time at night cleaning the rec center. I'm still teaching and loving it most of the time. My students seem to be getting better for the most part, but we do have a bunch of chatters.
Josh is growing his beard out again. It's pretty thick!
I got sick over last weekend and am still trying to get over it. My voice is starting to come back more, though. It never seems to fail that when I get a break, even a small one, I end up with some cold or something.
We're just hanging out here for Thanksgiving and will be going to my parents house for dinner.

We are alive!

I know, I know, it's been WAY too long, right? Well, things got a little crazy for awhile. lol I started my new teaching job. It's SO much better than the testing I was doing! I've got a pretty good class. Sometimes they can be difficult, but for the most part they are good. I'm in a portable this year, and I actually really like it! The only thing I don't like is that we have no access to printers or the intercom yet. They're working on it, but so far nothing. I love the school I'm at. The faculty and staff are so great and I've got a great 3rd grade team. They've helped me out so much already!

Josh started school last week. He is now planning on going into Secondary Education and would like to be a middle school history teacher. I think it suits him. When he started talking about it, I knew it would be a good thing for him to go into.

Other than that, our lives are pretty much the same. I've got pictures of my classroom, but I'll have to upload them later.

6 months!

Wow! So last night as we were headed off to bed I realized that it was our 6 month anniversary! I cannot believe that we've been married for 6 months! It seriously doesn't feel like that. I would post a picture or something, but I can't seem to find the cord for the camera. Not sure where it got put. When I find it, I will post some pictures.

So, after seeing how cute my sister-in-law Karina makes her blog, I decided to change the background on our blog! There are a lot of cute backgrounds there, but I figured I'd put this one up for now. :)

On Monday my parents, Josh and I went fishing. Well, Josh and my dad went fishing. My mom and I just watched and hung out. My dad caught a fish, but threw it back. It was a pretty good sized fish! Then on Thursday I went with my dad and Josh fishing again. They fished, I watched and read a book. My dad caught another fish, but it was pretty small. There was a dad and his kids there and they kept catching a lot of fish. When they left we decided to go by where they had been, hoping it would be better. It was shadier, but they still didn't get anything. I think they at least had some fun! It was good to be outside for me. I got some sun and had fun watching them. I took some pictures, but I'll have to add them later.

Jobs, life

Josh started his new job today at Costco. He works in the meat department there. He told me after work that there is a lot of stuff to remember, all the different cuts, how to put the meat in the dish and other stuff like that. I know he'll do well, though. When they hired him, they told him he would get about 25 hours a week. Well, he got his schedule and they had scheduled him for 40 hours this week, not that we are complaining! The money is good, and it will definitely take some stress off for bills for the summer since my work is basically over for the school year. I now need to find a summer job to help pay the bills as well. Also so we can actually do stuff like go to a movie now and then. ;)

I'm getting excited to start teaching in August. I can't wait to get my classroom and decorate it and do all the fun stuff to get ready for the school year!

What a weekend!

My sister came into town on Friday morning from Iowa. Her husband was going to California with a group of kids from the school they work at, and he dropped her and their son off to spend the weekend with us. My other sister came down as well to visit. It's not very often that my family is all together, so it was fun.
Friday we just kind of hung out. I took a walk with my nephew that evening and we walked up to the temple. He got out of the stroller and watched ants walking around the ground for a minute before we headed back home.
On Saturday my parents, both my sisters, Josh and I all went to the temple. My mom and I went first thing since it was my first time going, and then the rest of my family came later. It was a great experience!
Later that day my sisters, my mom and I took my niece and nephews to the splash park. They had a lot of fun! Both of my nephews ran around the whole time we were there. My niece stayed closer to her mom, but would follow her big brother around any time she could.
Needless to say, we had a great weekend!

So I realize it's been almost a month since we last posted anything. It's been a little hectic and crazy around here. Josh has been trying to find a job, but it hasn't gone that great. He's had one interview but they decided to go a different way. Basically, they wanted a teenager that they could make into whatever they wanted.

Work has been slowing down for me since it's almost the end of the school year. I haven't been doing as many tests considering the students are in end of year testing.

Josh is almost done with this semester of school, and his finals are this week. We still need to register him for summer, so hopefully we can do that this week as well. He also shaved off his beard, but it's starting to grow back. I took pictures of him shaving it off, but can't find the cord to put the pictures onto the computer. As soon as I do, I will put the picture on.

This past weekend we went to Vegas with one of Josh's friend and his wife. It was a lot of fun! We walked the strip. Pretty much the entire strip! We started at Circus Circus and ended at The Excalibur. We made a few stops along the way to see the different sights and things, and then we walked all the way back. We were all so sore by the time we got back to the hotel. We really enjoyed hanging out with them, and I made a new friend :) We just wish they lived closer so we could hang out more.

I know, it's been awhile since we posted. I've been busy with work lately and Josh is busy with school. This past week I was just offered a teaching job. YAY!!!! I will be teaching 3rd grade next year, and can finally get out of a job that I've been hating most of this year. I've had this same job for 3 years and the first year it was great, the second year it was ok, but this year has just been it for me. So I am EXTREMELY happy to be teaching next year.

It's not letting me post any pictures right now, so I'll have to try again later.

End of Spring Break

So we had this past week off from work and school. It was very nice! We slept in pretty much every day. Josh got his haircut, and as soon as I can find the camera cord I will post a new picture of his short hair. He still has his beard. He didn't do his usual high & tight haircut. He said it would look too weird with the beard.

This week I went through a bunch of boxes and got rid of a lot of stuff! There's still more to do, but I feel like I have accomplished something. When we moved in, our stuff was all put into our extra room, and I finally got it somewhat organized. There's still a lot more that I can do, but at least it's been started.

Neither of us are looking forward to going back to school/work, but it's something that must be done. Well, it's late, but I'll try to write more another time. I'll also try to post more pictures.

Well, here we are again! Josh has dropped a couple of classes, and is feeling better about school. We didn't realize how hard the block schedule would be to keep up with a full schedule! He'll go full time again in the fall. I'm still looking for a new job. I have applied here for some teaching jobs, but it's hard because the principals know me as "the tester" and they tend to want me to stay in that position. I haven't decided if that's a compliment or not. lol I've also been trying to start up a Stampin' Up! business. It's been hard, but hopefully soon I'll get it going more.

Both Josh and I have this next week off, so we may go out of town, just to get away. I've been overly stressed with my job and really need a break! Even after this week, I'm going back to giving about 5 tests a day, which is a lot. Usually it was 2-3 a day. After 3 tests, my brain is pretty dead, so I'm not looking forward to this at all. My schedule is already set through the beginning of April.

Josh has his beard again. It looks pretty good, but he keeps saying he needs a haircut. It is a bit long, especially for him.

Well, that's it for now. Once I figure out how to put pictures up, I'll put some up.

So, this is my first attempt at a blog. I figured since most of our families have been getting blogs that Josh and I should start one as well. Right now Josh is going to Dixie State and working hard in his classes. I still work for the same place I have for 3 years, but am looking into making a change. That's all for now, but we'll hopefully put up some pics and post more again soon!
